Reality Television, living the dream.

HELLO
How the heck are ya?
Thanks for checking in!
Little rainy and unseasonably warm in Vancouver these days. Beautiful.

Working a few days here and there on set of CONSUMED, the new HGTV reality show about families who own "too much stuff". You'd think the hard work of going through other people's crap wouldn't be anybodies cup of tea but the crew is so much fun to work with and the families are always unpredictable so I find the whole concept quite enjoyable. I've also been working with another set of producers to help them kick start a new show about women and weight loss. We have just finished up with casting and will be shooting the pilot this coming week. Everyone involved seems really excited about this project and the show has already been sold to two major networks in Canada and the US. It is yet to be named and broadcast dates are still in the works but I will let you know when you can catch it as soon as I know! I am working as the creator/ host's assistant helping her with administrative work as she pushes to get the show off the ground. Awesome.

I also just came across this little teaser I filmed about a year ago. Still relevant, so I thought I'd give it a little anniversary viewing in hopes that some of you haven't caught it yet.

Final Project Films

Here are two films I worked on for my final project in the Foundation program at Vancouver Film School. Both of which I acted as the Production Manager, taking care of the paperwork and coordination of cast and crew. Both directors are headed into the Film Production Program at VFS and both are likely to do very well. I look forward to working with them again soon! Please watch and enjoy!

PRESSURE - Written and directed by Julian Chapdelaine (Seattle/ Vancouver)
Julian was a pleasure to work with as he somehow found a way to be ten steps ahead of me throughout the entire production process. He has a keen eye for detail and is very much in tune with the technical side of film making. His "go-to" attitude will get him far in his career once he's finished up at VFS. Great job!

BEARD - Written and directed by Naseef Izuddin (India)
Naseef was another great director to work with. His scriptwriting and ability to work well with his actors will carry his success. Naseef worked very hard right up to his deadlines making sure fine wrinkles were always ironed over. Good luck Naseef!

Made it to Vancouver!!!

Just barely,  came across a few doubtful moments but we made it. It took us six and a half days to drive our little SUV and mini UHAUL trailer across the country. Being stopped several times and needing to reroute due to weather causing dangerous driving conditions. So dangerous in fact that our little trailer barely survived an ice attack when it ended up in the ditch on it's side. With no damage done to the vehicle, trailer or anything significant inside of the trailer, we took our time the rest of the way, never trying to squeeze in extra hours of driving when we knew it wasn't necessary.

Wish I could say it was one of those great Canadian road trips but the cold weather, terrible conditions, dirty motels and a three day stint of food poisoning half way through didn't really make for a dream vacation. Maybe I'm just being picky but I'd love to do the drive again one summer when I can actually get out of the car to see things other than the inside of a gas station toilet.

So being back in VAN could not be any more rewarding right now. Looking forward to getting a solid couple nights of sleep before I shock the city with my impressive employability skills. Stay tuned.

THUNDER BAY

We finally made it to the dreaded North of Ontario. Can't say the ride was as smooth as a stone on the beach. We're taking our time just to be safe but we can't help it if they close the only highway that takes you out West. On our first day of travel we made it to Sault Ste Marie by 7pm but hit a road block just North of there where the highway was closed due to bad weather and we had to spend the night on the side of the road. YES! it was cold! but no big deal. So tonight in Thunder Bay we decided to treat ourselves to a sweet motel. You know the kind with ripped wallpaper and missing outlet covers. CLASSY!

Where we stayed our first night, far east of Lake Superior....in the car.

Back on the road again after a quick 12 hour delay due to a closed Trans Canada.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

Thanks to all my family and friends back home for a great vacation in Welland, Ontario. I wish I had more time to spend with everyone but it's time to head back out West with my new roomate Alberto in his truck and the UHaul we rented. We're scheduled to depart at 7am on January 2nd and are trying to be optimistic with a 5 day travel plan. We'll be hoping to stop and see a few Canadian landmarks along the way. With no yet scheduled date of return I'm hoping to have lots of visitors again this year. Enjoy your returns to work and school! And check back in a few days for trip updates and pictures!!!
