RAGZ

Hello!
I hope you are all enjoying your May Long weekend!
I'm spending most of it packing and seeing some friends from work a few more times before I head to Toronto. I also started working on a new show this past week called RAGZ. It's a modern day, hip hop version of a Cinderella story from Nickelodeon. A Made-for-TV-movie due out in 2012 and produced by Nick Cannon. I nice change of pace from working on the dark drama The Killing. Working again as part of the locations team, we are shooting mostly downtown Vancouver and I'll be working with them until I catch my flight June first.

AND check out this interview with Mireille Enos, the lead in The Killing, with Jimmy Fallon;

Don't forget to keep catching the show Sunday Nights on the American Movie Channel.
Thanks for stopping by!

Well Folks It's Official

Yes! The rumours are true, I have officially accepted an internship with The Score Television Network, the sports network based in Toronto. Big changes and a big move ahead as I inch closer to my June 6th start date. I can assure you I did not take this choice lightly as I have very much fallen in love with the city of Vancouver. I spent many weeks debating on weather I should stick with West Coast Film or make the transition into Toronto Television, of course a switch made much smoother early on in one's career. And through the great guidance of the wise Alison Higgins I learned "There are no right or wrong decisions, just choices" and so I made mine and refuse to look back.

I am very much looking forward to becoming a part of The Score's team and soaking up as much as I can while I'm there. I'll be getting a chance to work as a part of Drafted Season Three, the search for Canada's next sportscaster as well as work directly with an old friend Brent Furtney, who became Fonthill's hometown hero when he won last year's season of Drafted and has been working with The Score ever since.

During my last month in Vancouver I'll be spending most of my time tying up loose ends, preparing for my move, saying goodbye to new friends and trying to sneak in a few last days of work as a Production Assistant with the DGC. I look forward to making my return to Ontario and hope everyone back home is willing to have me back.

A Sunday Afternoon with AmyG

I've had possibly a little too much time to myself lately.
In school they called something like this an "experimental piece".
I suppose they're right.

One Step Closer, I can smell the dream....smells like mashed potatos.

Hello again to all my friends,
I'm glad you came to play,
the fun and learning never ends
here's what we did today!

Well folks, I am officially a Permittee member of the Director's Guild of Canada in BC. WHICH MEANS I successfully completed all necessary courses, showed proof of completion of a Film Production post secondary education, completed 30 full days of paid work with a unionized production and passed the Permittee Log Book Holder's Exam. YES! I can now start logging work days towards the 120 days I have left in order to be an Executive Member. What would be the benefit of this Amy? I'll tell you! Every major production filmed in BC is a part of the Director's Guild and they are not permitted to hire non union members if there are any union members looking for work. There are several unions in BC that fill an entire production crew, I chose the DGC in order to one day become a production manager. Huge, gigantic, enormous slippery ladder to the top....Thanks in advance for supporting!!

PS Come out and visit the weather is amaaazzzinngg!!!

Back in the City

It IS great to be back in Vancouver after being out of town shooting on location for a while with a Feature Film. Top secret Title and Location but what I CAN say is that me and my fellow production assistants spent a few long weeks in the deep dark woods of the mountains. OF COURSE I love the experience and who wouldn't appreciate being able to work outdoors in the gorgeous province of BC. Everybody needs to get a little dirt under their fingernails every once in a while, get a little frostbite and cover every inch of themselves in a thick layer of clay and mud to earn a few dollars and get some Cheerios in the cupboard.
AND!!!
Had some more visitors this past weekend as well! The lovely Uncle Jeff and Aunt Darlene all the way from Fonthill Ontario. I was lucky enough to get away from work for a weekend while they were vacationing in Whistler. Hit the slopes with Uncle Jeff then enjoyed a few Long Islands and Kokanees to get the blood down to the fingertips again. Great to see them! I don't think I will ever get sick of visitors, passers by or looky loos. It's just a great big reminder of everyone and everything back home that is just precisely the way I left it.

Happy Easter Everyone!!! Enjoy your short week and long weekend, keep fit and stay safe.

March Break with Tuna Noodle Casserole

Well hello again,
Another busy couple of weeks for Amy G. We wrapped Hellcats's first season last week and I am finishing up with The Killing in the next couple of weeks as well. The show is set to premier THIS COMING SUNDAY APRIL 3RD on the AMERICAN MOVIE CHANNEL at 9/8 central. It is rumoured to be quite an exciting debut so be sure to catch it of you can!!! The show will air all summer so be sure to highlight it every week in your day planner. And of course let me know what you think.

On the other side of things my friend Catherine was down again to visit from Fort Ware while her students were on March Break. Took a couple days off for Whistler, biking, hiking, site-seeing, shopping, wining and dining. Soooo nice to see and hang out with old pals. Here's a pic of us on the Burrard Street Bridge on our way to the Granville Island Market.
